Figure 4—Details of the SBM. The glue-down 0.062x0.100 inch PCB stripiines are cemented to the base PCB with Duco Cement. The lengths are based on a 0.61 propagation constant. C1, as described in Figure 5, is first assembled without the polyethylene dielectric. Diodes D1 and D2 are then soldered to the brass capacitor washer while held in their proper postions. The capacitor is then dissassembled and reassembled with the dielectric in place. Check for shorts and continuity; then solder D1 and D2 to the PCB. The balance capacitor is an optional feature to null the SBM balance (see text).
